- Performs general nursing care to patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
- Prepares equipment and aids physicians during treatment, examination and surgical procedures.
- Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination by having them in proper undress.
- Obtains detailed an pertinent medical history from patient prior to examination. Uses nursing expertise and excellent interviewing skills to assure necessary information is obtained.
-Responsible for preparation of exam rooms. Restocks lab and exam rooms and obtains liquid nitrogen daily.
- Clean and autoclave instruments, prepare surgery trays, and mix medications.
- Follows OSHA guidelines and sees that OSHA Maintenance/Cleaning is completed. Follow CLIA regulations.
- Responsible for notifying and explaining lab/biopsy results to patients. Assists with patient scheduling.
- Performs patient phone triage and handles pharmacy requests. Communicates physicians instructions to patients via phone.
- Screen phone request for work-in appointments.
- Reviews patient insurance requirements prior to completing lab requisitions.
- Assist with medical emergencies as needed.
- Attends required meetings, participates in committees and assists with community education as requested.
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
- Maintains patient confidentially.
- Suggests solutions to patient care problems and complaints.
- Set-up and administer Patch Testing.
- Monitor patient vital signs per treatment or condition requirements.
- Provides patient and family education as needed.
- Perform suture removals and wound dressings.
- Performs related work as required.
Performance Requirements: Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of organization policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care. Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and medications as directed. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in taking vital signs. Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions. Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly.
