4.17.18 Sherman came into rescue from a high kill shelter. He was surrendered by his family to the shelter. The family had gotten him from someone who was giving him away for free on facebook. They were told he had no health issues. They had him for a while and then took him to their vet for a routine exam and vaccinations, etc. The vet ran a heartworm test which was positive. Rather than treat him, the family took him and dumped him at the kill shelter. Once the shelter got full, Sherman was in serious danger of being euthanized because the owner surrendered dogs are always first. I was actually there getting some other dogs but I noticed him because he was one of the few dogs that wasn't jumping and barking and acting crazy. He was so sad. He was just sitting quietly in his kennel, looking at me with his big sweet eyes, pleading quietly for his life. I took him with me that day. And I have never regretted it. We are not sure what breed Sherman is. He is a funny guy who kind of looks like a cross between a hound and a great dane. But that is purely a guess. He weighs about 80lbs and we believe he's about 3 years old. Sherman is house trained and is the most gentle spirit you could ask for in a dog. He loves everyone he meets and doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. He is just a wonderful companion and there's a family out there that is going to be very lucky to have such a loving, gentle soul in their midst.
